At Ronald McDonald House Idaho, we believe that when a child is sick, the whole family needs support. Our mission is to provide families with a safe, welcoming place to stay close to their child’s medical care, along with the comfort, resources, and connection they need during an incredibly difficult time.
A child’s medical crisis can bring fear, uncertainty, financial strain, and countless unexpected challenges. Families may travel far from home, step away from work, rearrange care for other children, and put everyday life on hold—all while focusing on what matters most: their child.
Our programs help remove barriers to care by providing a home away from home near the hospital, along with meals, laundry, activities, family spaces, and other essential services. These supports allow families to stay together, care for one another, and focus on their child’s healing.
Many of the families we serve are navigating serious or complex medical conditions. Some travel hundreds of miles for treatment, while others suddenly find themselves spending days, weeks, or even months at the hospital.
The impact of a child’s illness extends beyond the hospital room. Families may face unexpected expenses, lost wages, transportation challenges, and food or housing insecurity. That’s why Ronald McDonald House Idaho is here—to keep families close, ease the burden, and provide a caring community when they need it most.
Because when families are together, they are stronger—and when families are stronger, children can focus on getting better.

The 48-room Ronald McDonald Idaho House serves families with seriously ill or injured children being treated at a Boise area medical facility. At the House, families have a warm, comfortable place to sleep, eat, and find support, care, understanding and compassion from staff, volunteers and other families staying at the House.
The 40,000 square foot House is across the street from St. Luke’s and a short drive from Saint Alphonsus, allowing families to stay near their ill or injured child. While doctors are focused on taking care of their kids, Ronald McDonald House Idaho is focused on taking care of the family.
The Ronald McDonald House Family Room in Idaho Falls provides comfort and support to families with ill or injured kids receiving medical care at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC). The Family Room has 4 sleep rooms, a kitchen, laundry facilities, and more and is located inside the walls of EIRMC.
At the Family Room, families with ill or injured kids have a home-like environment just steps from their child. Any family with a ill or injured child at EIRMC is able to use the Family Room, whether they live right in Idaho Falls or have traveled from another area.
Designed to serve families who wait for hours without leaving the hospital or their child’s bedside, the Hospitality Carts provide a bit of comfort as they travel the hallways of Saint Alphonsus and St. Luke’s Children’s Hospital in Boise, as well as St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center. The carts bring parents a hot beverage and snack while keeping the little ones entertained with books, fun activities, and toys.
